The emotions we experience make us understand what are the things that are really important to us. Precisely for those emotions it is not easy to be able to find the right words to tell them. One has the perception that no one will be able to fully contain them.
This is what happened to me with the Breath of the Earth, the three-day event that was held in Soci (AR) at La Mausolea, from 12 to 14 July. Three days dedicated to our planet and the earth, with many experiences and good practices, aimed at giving a more sustainable way of experiencing agriculture, and in general our relationship with the nature that surrounds us.
Colorful emotions, a sense of communion, a sort of big hug that held all the participants in a single feeling. A virtuous community that will carry out its prodigious plans. I’m sure!
At the end of this beautiful journey I feel a strong desire to thank. Those who have been with us but also those who have not been physically present and also those who, from afar, do not stop being an actor of small actions of change.
As Prof. Berrino said, “May critical consumption, ethical communication, sustainable agriculture and healthy eating come out of the books and rooms of experts and reach the people; no one can change the world alone, but everyone can improve a part of it ”.
In the days of the Breath of the Earth I kept a sort of personal diary, in which I wrote down the moments that were most significant for me.
The Breath of the Earth diary
A prayer of thanks
I close this sharing of memories with a prayer, the same one I read at the Breath of the Earth, at the end of my speech and which moved those present.
It is a prayer of Pope Francis taken from the encyclical Laudato si ‘, which expresses better than many other words the meaning of the new journey that awaits us.
PRAYER FOR OUR LAND
Almighty God,
that you are present throughout the universe
and in the smallest of your creatures,
You who surround with your tenderness
everything exists,
pour the strength of your love into us
so that we take care
of life and beauty.
Flood us with peace, so that we live as brothers and sisters
without harming anyone.
O God of the poor,
help us to redeem the abandoned
and the forgotten of this land
that are worth so much in your eyes.
Heal our life,
so that we protect the world and not plunder it,
so that we sow beauty
and not pollution and destruction.
Touch the hearts
of those who seek only advantages
at the expense of the poor and the land.
Teach us to discover the value of everything,
to contemplate with amazement,
to recognize that we are deeply united
with all creatures
on our way to your infinite light.
Thanks for being with us every day.
Please support us in our struggle
for justice, love and peace.
